David Andres

David Andres (born November 9, 1984 in Saarbrücken ) is a German double bass player , electric bass player and music teacher .

Live and act

David Andres began playing the cello at the age of 6 and received lessons from Heidrun Mertes-Ernst and Wolfram Hertel . In 1999 he switched to the electric bass and then played in the Saarland School Student Big Band and the Saar Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Georg Ruby . During this time he began to play the double bass .

In 2006 he began studying instrumental pedagogy at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Marius Goldhammer , Dieter Manderscheid and Michael Gustorff, graduating with distinction in 2011.

Andres has been working as a freelance jazz musician and teacher since 2011. He is a regular bassist of the Filippa Gojo Quartet, Christine Corvisier Quintett, Oliver Maas Trio, Raphael Klemm Sextet, The Willit Blend. So he was a teacher at the Jazzworkshop Trier (2009, 2010, 2011), Jazzworkshop Aachen (2016). As a co-leader he is part of the "Deep Talk" duo with Lydia Schiller.

In 2014 he founded the teacher collective Improve Musikunterricht together with other music teachers

As a guest he played concerts with the Symphony Orchestra of the Saarland Radio (2006) and the Symphony Orchestra of the WDR (2014, 2015). As a temporary worker he played with the WDR Bigband with guests such as Bob Mintzer , Nils Wogram , Ack van Rooyen , Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea , Jocelyn Smith .

David Andres lives and works in Cologne .
