Thomas Blug (* 1966 in Saarbrücken ) is a German guitarist , composer , producer , amp developer and entrepreneur from Saarland .

In 1997 he was awarded the title “Best German Rock-Pop Guitarist” by the German Rock Musician Association. On August 29, 2004, on the occasion of a Europe-wide competition for the fiftieth birthday of the Fender Stratocaster in England, it won the title "Stratking of Europe".

In addition to his solo records, he worked as a studio and tour guitarist. So he played z. B. the guitar for the song "No Angel (It's All in Your Mind)" (No. 1 German single charts) from the No Angels , or accompanied the band Tic Tac Toe during their tour. He played with Chaka Khan , Purple Schulz , Uwe Ochsenknecht , Rainbirds , Stewart Copeland ( The Police ), Bobby Kimball ( Toto ), Percy Sledge , Hazel O'Connor , Mel Gaynor ( Simple Minds ), Don Airey ( Gary Moore , Deep Purple ) and Tommy Emmanuel . He also works as a sound designer for the German amplifier company " Hughes & Kettner ". He founded the Thomas Blug Band , in which Thijs van Leer (keyb.), Raoul Walton (bs.), Wolf Simon and Bernhard Wittmann play alongside him . Arrangements and compositions by Thomas Blug can also be heard in the soundtracks of films or television series.

Thomas Blug has been touring with his project "Blug plays Hendrix" since 2010. He brings his versions of Hendrix classics live on stage. English rock singer David Readman (vocals) Reggie Worthy (bass, vocals) and Manni von Bohr (drums) accompany him at his concerts .

He also founded the Rockanarchy with Rudi "Gulli" Spiller (bass, vocals), a jam band in which classic rock of the 60s and 70s is played and lived with a lot of freedom for interpretation and improvisation. The drummers change and you rely on successful and well-known drummers such as Bodo Schopf, Charly T., Jürgen Zöller , Ralf Gustke, Tommy Fischer, Jost Nickel, Manni von Bohr , Wolf Simon , Mel Gaynor , Pete York. For special occasions the band is complemented by guest musicians such as Tony Carey ( Rainbow , Solo), Jennifer Batten ( Michael Jackson , Jeff Beck ), Mick Rogers (Manfred Mann's Earth Band), Ali Neander (Rodgau Monotones), Phil X (Bon Jovi), Guthrie Govan , Pete Thorn, Tom Quayle, Drew Berlin and many more.

In 2014 Thomas Blug founded BluGuitar in Saarbrücken. His company develops products (amps and boxes) for professional guitarists that are particularly handy and light. He does workshop tours in the UK, China, Japan and America which distribute his innovative products worldwide. Musicians like Jennifer Batten, Ian Chrichton ( Saga ), Kat Dyson ( Zucchero , Prince ), Miller Anderson , Uli Jon Roth , Kevin "Geordie" Walker ( Killing Joke ), Oliver Hartmann ( Avantasia ) are just a few examples from the growing crowd of AMP1 -Player.

His live equipment includes the AMP1 from BluGuitar, boxes from BluGuitar (mostly Fatcab), a modified Fender Stratocaster from 1961 and some floor pedals.
