Peter Hedrich (born April 3, 1993 in Saarlouis ) is a German jazz musician ( trombone ).

Hedrich, whose father is also a musician, started playing the trombone at the age of 6 in the Musikverein Reisbach. He received classical lessons from Wolfgang Bichlmeier (Saarland State Theater), among others. His teachers also included Jiggs Whigham, Ludwig Nuss , Ansgar Striepens , Andy Hunter and Philipp Schug . As a teenager he became a member of the Jailhouse Bigband led by his father . Between 2007 and 2014 he belonged to the regional school student big band Jazz Train , with whom he also appeared at the St. Ingbert Jazz Festival , the Idar-Oberstein Jazz Days and in England. Since 2010 he has also been part of the Saar Youth Jazz Orchestra; In 2014/2015 he switched to the Federal Jazz Orchestra .

After graduating from high school in 2011, Hedrich studied law ; Until 2015 he was also a member of the big band of the Saarland University of Music . During his studies he became a member of the Saarland professional big band Brassolution in 2012. In 2013 he founded the Duo Nearness with the pianist Beatrice Latz , which was dedicated to the interpretation of jazz standards and Scandinavian folk . In the drumless Hedrich Schwartz Trio he played with Manfred and Robin Schwartz. He interprets classical music in a duo with the pianist and organist Christian Gerhorst. He is also the first trombonist of the Silent Explosion Orchestra founded by drummer Kevin Nasshan . He is currently the first trombonist in the Saarland Police Orchestra and tours all over Europe with the musicals The Addams Family and Spamalot .

With his own band, the Peter Hedrich Sextett, he released his debut album New Hope in 2018 , which reflects Jiggs Whigham's album Hope . The CD was nominated for the quarterly best list at the German Record Critics' Prize. He also worked with Stefan Gwildis , Florian Ross , Götz Alsmann , Joe Gallardo , Pe Werner , Marc Secara and the WDR Big Band Cologne .
