Francisco Domingo Barbosa Da Silveira (born March 26, 1944 in Tambores , Uruguay , † June 17, 2015 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Minas .

Life

After finishing school, Barbosa studied Catholic theology . After completing his studies, he was ordained a priest on June 17, 1972 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Minas on March 6, 2004 . The apostolic nuncio in Uruguay, Archbishop Janusz Bolonek , donated him the episcopal ordination on May 8 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Salto , Daniel Gil Zorrilla SJ , and the Bishop of Maldonado-Punta del Este , Rodolfo Pedro Wirz Kraemer .

Barbosa was blackmailed by two Uruguayan inmates for homosexual acts in 2009 . On July 1, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation.

Barbosa died on June 17, 2015, the 43rd anniversary of his ordination.
