Francisco Marihno Robby Elson (born February 28, 1976 in Rotterdam ) is a former Dutch professional basketball player who was active in the NBA from 1999 to 2013 .

career

Elson began playing basketball at AMVJ Rotterdam (now Rotterdam Basketbal ) at the age of 12. After some time at Kilgore Junior College in Texas , he finished his college years at the University of California, Berkeley . As a senior, he helped the Bears to the NIT championship.

NBA

Elson was in the second round of the NBA Draft in 1999 by the Denver Nuggets in the 41st spot drafted , but has only taken from them under contract for the 2003-04 season. Before that, he played four years in Spain: 1999–2001 with FC Barcelona , 2001–02 with Valencia Basket Club and 2002–03 with CDB Sevilla . From 2003 to 2006, Francisco played in 201 games in the NBA for the Nuggets and averaged 4.1 points.

In July 2006, Elson signed a two-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs . In the 2006/07 season he won the NBA championship with Spurs.

On February 20, 2008 Elson was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics along with Brent Barry and a first round draft pick . In exchange, Kurt Thomas went to San Antonio.

On February 18, 2010 a trade followed with the Philadelphia 76ers for Primož Brezec, among others . He only played one game for the Sixers.

In the summer of 2010, he signed a one-year contract with the Utah Jazz .

In January 2012, he signed again in Philadelphia. There, his contract was terminated in March 2012 by option.

After Elson did not receive a new contract for the 2012/2013 season, he remained without a club for a long time and finally accepted an offer from Mahram Tehran from the Iranian Super League in January 2013 , where he played until the summer of 2013.

In March 2014 Elson ended his professional career.
