Francisco João Silota

Francisco João Silota MAfr (born June 17, 1941 in Zuoya ) is a Mozambican religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Chimoio .

Life

Francisco João Silota joined the Order of the White Fathers and was ordained a priest on August 11, 1974 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Beira and titular bishop of Musti on January 18, 1988 . The archbishop of Beira, Jaime Pedro Gonçalves , ordained him episcopal on June 26th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Paulo Mandlate SSS , Bishop of Tete , and Bernardo Filipe Governo OFMCap , Bishop of Quelimane .

On November 19, 1990, he was appointed Bishop of Chimoio . Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on January 2, 2017.
