Frank Doubleday (born January 28, 1945 in Norwich , Connecticut - † March 3, 2018 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Doubleday was born in Connecticut in 1945; his family moved to Los Angeles when he was six years old. After graduating from school, he initially worked for the United States Postal Service , but then set out for an acting career. In 1975 he received his first episode roles in American television series, before he had his screen debut in 1976 in the musical comedy The First Nudie Musical . In 1976 he starred alongside Jack Lemmon , Geneviève Bujold and James Woods in John Korty's romantic comedy Love and Other Crimes . In the same year he worked for the first time with director John Carpenter . In the thriller Assault at night , he played the nameless killer who initially shoots a little girl. This was followed by other small film roles and appearances in the series Starsky & Hutch , Wonder Woman and Charlie's Angels, among others . In 1981 he was occupied again by John Carpenter; this time as Romero , the right hand of the "Duke", the ruler of Manhattan. This would remain his most famous role.

Doubleday was active as an actor until the late 1990s and appeared in the series Sledge Hammer! , Incredible Stories and X-Factor: The Unbelievable on. Another notable supporting role he had in 1986 in John McTiernan's directorial debut Nomads - Death out of nowhere alongside Lesley-Anne Down and Pierce Brosnan .

Doubleday was married to actress Christina Hart for 40 years . The marriage resulted in two daughters who were both successful in the acting field, Portia Doubleday and Kaitlin Doubleday . He died of complications from cancer at the age of 73 .
