Frankendorf has been part of the municipality of Storbeck-Frankendorf in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg since January 10, 2002 . The place belongs to the Temnitz office . Before it was incorporated into Storbeck-Frankendorf, Frankendorf was an independent municipality.

location

Frankendorf is located in the Ruppiner Land , around twelve kilometers as the crow flies northwest of Neuruppin and is surrounded all around by extensive forest areas. The total reserve Kunsterspring nature reserve lies on the north-eastern boundary of Frankendorf . Surrounding villages are Neuglienicke and Gühlen-Glienicke in the northeast, Steinberge , Kunsterspring , Zermützel and Stendenitz in the east, Storbeck in the southeast, Woltersdorf in the south, Katerbow and Netzeband in the southwest, Rägelin in the west and Pfalzheim in the northwest.

Frankendorf is on the district road 6811. The state road 16 to Neuruppin is about five kilometers east and the state road 18 to Herzsprung about four kilometers west of Frankendorf. The river Kunster rises to the east of the village . Parts of the Waisenkrug settlement to the south of Frankendorf are within the boundaries of the town.

history

The village was founded during the German colonization in the 12th and 13th centuries, but soon after it was founded it fell back into desolation. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1524 as Franckendorff as a desert field mark, which partly belonged to the Alt Ruppin office and the Hebungen family. In 1541 the desert Feldmark von Frankendorf belonged to the municipality of Katerbow and in 1590 to the sheep farm of the Storbeck farm. In 1680 the von Hebungen family sold their shares in the wooded piece of land to the Alt Ruppin office. Before 1733 a Vorwerk was laid out near Frankendorf , the re-establishment of Frankendorf took place in 1753 with the settlement of six families from Mecklenburg. The settlement then belonged to the Ruppin district and was therefore part of the Mark Brandenburg until 1815 and then the Prussian province of Brandenburg . It was not until 1905 that Frankendorf received a village church.

On January 10, 2002, the previously independent community of Frankendorf merged with Storbeck to form the new community of Storbeck-Frankendorf .
