František Bublan

František Bublan (2012)

František Bublan (born January 13, 1951 in Třebíč ) is a Czech politician, former director of the foreign intelligence service and theologian. From 2004 to 2006 he was Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic.

Life

After high school in Třebíč, Bublan began studying at the Agricultural University in Brno . After two years, however, he moved to Litoměřice to the Catholic theological faculty of Charles University . After graduating in 1976, he worked as a clergyman in Mikulov and Břeclav until his state permit was withdrawn because he had signed Charter 77 .

After the Velvet Revolution , Bublan worked in the newly established Federal Information Service (FIS) in 1991, which was transformed into the Czech Security Information Service (BIS) in 1993 . After Bublan had held a managerial position there from 1997, he was director of the foreign intelligence service Úřad pro zahraniční styky a informace from 2001 to 2004 .

In 2004 he became a non-party member of the social democratic ČSSD Minister of the Interior in the Stanislav Gross government , an office he held in the Jiří Paroubek government . From 2006 to 2012 he was a member of the House of Representatives . In the 2012 Senate election , he was elected senator for the constituency of Třebíč .

Bublan is married and has three children.
