Franz Blume

Franz Blume (born September 26, 1905 in Hamburg , † January 30, 1988 in Berlin ) was a German KPD functionary, resistance fighter against the Nazi regime and Spain fighter .

Life

Blume learned the trade of a carpenter . In 1922 he joined the SAJ and in 1926 over to the KJVD . He was an instructor and member of the KJVD district management water edge. From 1927 to 1929 he was sentenced to prison terms for "resisting state power and ringleadership". From 1931 to 1933 he was an employee of the AM apparatus (intelligence and defense service) of the KPD district leadership on Wasserkante. In 1932 he received intelligence training under the code name Michael at the M-School of the Comintern near Moscow .

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, Blume continued to work illegally for the KPD in Hamburg. He was already the end of April 1933 arrested on 4 February 1934 to three years ' imprisonment convicted. Blume was imprisoned in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel until the beginning of June 1936 . On the initiative of Anton Saefkow , who had been imprisoned in Fuhlsbüttel since the autumn of 1934, illegal party cells were set up in the communal halls around the turn of the year 1934/35 and a political leadership formed, which, in addition to Saefkow, was Hugo Gill , Fritz Winzer , Gottlieb Weide and Willi Willendorf Franz Blume also belonged. In early December 1936, Blume was arrested again, but released the following day.

Blume then emigrated to Denmark in January 1937 . From March 1938 he fought as a member of the International Brigades on the side of the Spanish Republic. Blume was an officer in the Edgar André battalion and was seriously wounded. He came to France in January 1939 and was interned in the Saint-Cyprien camp. In 1940, Blume came to a work company, later escaped and went to Marseille . From 1942 he fought on the side of the French Resistance and was jointly responsible for the publication of the newspaper "Soldat am Mediterranean", which was aimed at members of the Wehrmacht , as well as for the development, production and distribution of pamphlets and leaflets. He worked here with Luise Kraushaar , Max Kahane , Walter Beling and Rudolf Leonhard . In the Gard department he worked for the Comité “Allemagne libre” pour l'Ouest (CALPO, movement “Free Germany” for the West) and kept in touch with the Maquis .

In August 1945, Blume returned to Hamburg and became a functionary of the KPD again. In 1948 he became an archivist at the Hamburger Volkszeitung , then head of the cadre department of the KPD regional leadership in Hamburg, and later also organ secretary. In 1951 he moved to the GDR and joined the SED there . From 1952 to 1957 he was an instructor at IG Bau-Holz of the FDGB in Dresden . From October 1957, Blume worked for the Central Committee of the illegal KPD of the Federal Republic in Berlin.

Blume was buried in the cemetery for those persecuted by the Nazi regime in the Friedrichsfelde central cemetery in Berlin-Lichtenberg .

In 1980 Franz Blume received the gold medal for the Patriotic Order of Merit .
