Franz Jaburek

Franz Jaburek , sometimes also Franz Jawurek , († March 20, 1945 in Vienna ) was an Austrian football player .

Career

Jaburek belonged to First Vienna FC as a midfielder , for whom he initially played points games from 1932 to 1937 in the championships held by the Vienna Football Association in the I. League , the 1937/38 season in the National League .

After the annexation of Austria , he was used from 1941 to 1944 in the Gauliga Donau-Alpenland in one of 17, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as a uniform top division in the German Reich .

During his club membership, he and his team won the Austrian championship and the national club cup . During the Nazi era he won the Gaume Championship three times. As a result, he also took part in the finals for the German championship three times . Initially, he was used in all games from the qualifying round to the final. In the Berlin Olympic Stadium he and his team lost 2-0 to FC Schalke 04 in front of 90,000 spectators on July 4, 1942, through goals from Ernst Kalwitzki and Fritz Szepan .

In the final round of 1942/43 he played the first round game against the military sports club Brno , won 5-2 in the Prater Stadium on May 2, 1943 , then the last sixteen at LSV Reinecke Brieg , won 8-0 on May 16, 1943 in Breslau , against which he scored his only goal in one of his three finals with the goal to make it 1-0 in the seventh minute. Then his team won with him the quarter-finals in Vienna , which they won 2-0 against TSV 1860 Munich on May 30, 1943 , before failing 2-0 in the Stuttgart semi-finals at FV Saarbrücken on June 13, 1943 . In his last participation in the finals he was used again in the first round match against the military sports club Brno, and in the second and quarter finals against the STC Hirschberg and the Dresdner SC .

In the national cup competition for club teams for the Tschammer Cup , he was only used on July 19, 1942 in a 2-1 first round win at the Vienna AC .

In the spring of 1945 he played a few games for the Vienna sports club . On March 20, 1945 he died in a bomb attack on Vienna.
