Franz Vogel (film producer)

Franz Vogel (born December 9, 1883 in Berlin ; † October 4, 1956 there ) was a German film producer .

Life

After completing a commercial apprenticeship, he worked for the young film medium from 1909, initially in sales. In 1912 he founded his production company Eiko-Film and started producing his own films on July 5, 1912.

He produced numerous dramas and melodramas and presented the first German newsreel in 1914 . Since 1924 he was a member of the board of the National-Film AG. In the twenties he switched to working as a production manager for films by Gerhard Lamprecht and other directors.

With the founding of Euphono-Film he resumed his production from 1934. In addition to comedies , he produced the literary film Der Katzensteg and the Hans Albers film Sergeant Berry, among others . In 1941 the Euphono merged with the Tobis . Vogel headed a production group for Berlin-Film as production manager from 1942 to 1945 . After the war he re-founded Euphono in Düsseldorf , but withdrew from the feature film business in 1950 and only produced short documentaries until 1954.
