Fred Sowerby
Fred Sowerby (actually Frederick Oliver Newgent Sowerby; born December 11, 1948 in Plymouth , Montserrat ) is a former sprinter , middle-distance runner and hurdler from Antigua and Barbuda .
At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingstons in 1966 , he was eliminated over 880 yards and in the first round in the mile run .
In 1970 he reached the quarter-finals at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh over 400 m and was eliminated in the 4-by-100-meter relay in the preliminary run.
At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he reached the quarter-finals over 400 m . In the 4 x 400 meter relay , he did not get past the first lap.
In 1977 he was third in the 4 x 400 meter relay with the American team at the World Cup in Athletics in Düsseldorf .
At the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978 , he was each seventh over 400 m and with the 4-by-400-meter relay from Antigua and Barbuda.
In 1976, 1977 and 1982 he was US indoor champion over 600 yards.
