Frida Parmeggiani (* 1946 in Merano ) is an Italian costume designer .

Life

After training as a tailor, she worked as a fashion illustrator in Zurich. In 1973 she interned and assisted at the Berlin Schaubühne , after which she became a costume designer.

She performed her first major work of her own on October 1, 1976, when the plays Damals und Kicks by author Samuel Beckett were performed at the Schillertheater Berlin . She then worked at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and at the Kammerspiele of the German Theater .

From 1976 to 1978 she was employed at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. Important performances there were Clare Boothe Luce's Women in New York (premiere September 17, 1976, director: Rainer Werner Fassbinder ), Stella (premiere March 4, 1977, director: Wilfried Minks ), Die Wupper (premiere May 3, 1978, director: Jürgen Flimm ) and In the case of J. In 1981 she received the Berlin Art Prize , a sponsorship prize awarded by the Academy of the Arts ; In 1990 she was named best costume designer of the year by Theater heute for her work on the play Black Rider .
