Friedrich Alexander zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich

Friedrich Alexander Solms-Hohensolms-Lich (* 18th June 1763 in Kiel ; † 12. September 1830 in Lich ) was a Prussian major general and military , and later Governor General of the General Government mountain .

Life

He was the son of Karl Christian zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich (born April 16, 1725 in Hohensolms ; † March 22, 1803 in Lich) and his wife Sophie Charlotte, née Dohna-Schlobitten (born January 17, 1740 in Schlobitten ; † November 10, 1798 in Marburg ).

Solms was initially in Dutch service with the Guard on foot from January 1781 . At the end of August 1802 he joined the Prussian Army and was employed as a lieutenant colonel . He took part in the 1806 campaign against Napoleon . King Friedrich Wilhelm III. awarded Solms on March 21, 1810 the character of major general. He also awarded him the Order of the Red Eagle, 1st class , in 1812 . During the Wars of Liberation , after the occupation of the previous Grand Duchy of Berg , Solms was given the post of military governor of the provisional General Government of Berg on November 20, 1813 . From February 5 to July 1, 1814, he acted on behalf of the "High Allied Powers" as Governor General of the provisional Berg Generalgouvernor.

He died unmarried.
