Friedrich Carl zu Stolberg-Gedern was the younger son of Count Ludwig Christian zu Stolberg and Duchess Christine zu Mecklenburg , a mother of 24 children, and until their sons came of age, regent in the counties of Gedern and Wernigerode, a daughter of Duke Gustav Adolf , des Last of the line Mecklenburg-Güstrow , as well as sister of the Danish-Norwegian Queen Louise of Mecklenburg .
