Friedrich Christian Theodor von Preen (* May 22, 1787 , † March 19, 1856 ) was a ducal Nassau chamberlain , adjutant and lieutenant general .
family
Friedrich Christian Theodor von Preen came from the Bandelstorf line of the old Mecklenburg noble family von Preen . His father (* 1756; † 1841) was a princely Waldeck Privy Councilor and district president and heir to Dummerstorf not far from Ribnitz . In 1819 Friedrich Christian Theodor von Preen married Baroness Auguste von Dungern (* 1801; † 1868). The marriage produced four daughters:
- Therese Adolfine von Preen (* 1822), married in 1842 to Freiherr Heinrich von Wintzingerode (* 1806; † 1864), ducal chamberlain of Nassau and state president of Wiesbaden
- Bertha von Preen, lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of Nassau
- Emmy von Preen (* 1829), married in 1853 to Freiherr Wilhelm Adolf von Nauendorf (* 1819, † 1880), heir to Nauendorf, ducal Nassau wing adjutant
- Maria Isabelle Wilhelmine Georgine Luise Elise von Preen (* 1843), married in 1861 to Baron Adolf von Ritter zu Grünstein (* 1830), royal Bavarian chamberlain .
Life
First Preen was with the Napolean- Dutch infantry, fought with the rank of lieutenant with the 3rd Dutch infantry regiment in Spain in 1809 . In March of the same year he moved to the 2nd Nassau Infantry Regiment while maintaining his rank as lieutenant in the Ducal Nassau Army . Under General von Schäffer, he led the troops to Nassau.
In 1812 Preen received the ducal Nassau recognition of the title of baron. In 1813 Preen was a Knight of the Legion of Honor and advanced to Major in October of the same year .
The Nassau President of the War College and General Commander of the Troops August von Kruse , whose successor Preen was to become in 1837, appointed him to the British contingent, where he took part in the Wars of Liberation as commander of the 3rd Landwehr Battalion in the 1st Nassau Infantry Regiment and also fought at Waterloo . For his work there he was awarded the 3rd class Wilhelmsorden .
In 1832 Preen was in the rank of colonel before the general staff of the 1st Nassau Infantry Regiment in the Weilburg and Diez garrison. At that time he was already a holder of the Imperial Russian Order of St. Anne, 2nd class. In 1848 Preen said goodbye to active service.
Preen was the heir to Dummerstorf near Ribnitz and a member of the Nassau antiquity association.
