Friedrich Ernst Ruhkopf

Friedrich Ernst Ruhkopf (also: Friedericus Ernestus Ruhkopf * October 1, 1760 in Soßmar ; † January 2, 1821 in Hanover ) was a German classical philologist and historian, teacher and grammar school director and author.

Friedrich Ernst Ruhkopf was born at the time of the Electorate of Hanover in 1760 as one of several sons - including Karl Heinrich Ruhkopf - of the Catholic preacher Ruhkopf who was active in the Peine office , before he was transferred to Eschershausen by the Bishop of Hildesheim under the patronage right .

In 1785, Ruhkopf initially took a position as private tutor in Halle (Saale) , where he entered into intensive communication with the classical philologist and classical scholar Friedrich August Wolf and obtained his doctorate in philosophy at the university there on June 6th of that year.

Friedrich Ernst Ruhkopf began his actual teaching career in Neuruppin in 1786 at the school of scholars there , before becoming director in Bielefeld and Hanover .
