Friedrich Count von Wilczek

Friedrich Graf von Wilczek (born July 19, 1790 in Vienna ; † February 3, 1861 there ) was an Austrian civil servant and politician.

Political activity

Friedrich Graf von Wilczek worked as governor and governor for the economic and social improvement of the country. He especially pushed the road construction and promoted agriculture by founding an agricultural association (later state culture council ). In the socio-political area, he founded the institution for the deaf and dumb in Brixen , the “private insane asylum” in Hall (today the Hall State Hospital ) and the “Alle Laste” birthing, finding and midwifery institution in Trento .

Count von Wilczek also had to carry out the expulsion of the Zillertal Protestants decided by the Estates Congress , even if he himself was not convinced of the correctness of the decision. This was also expressed in his critical attitude towards the Tyrolean estates .

Wilczek retired on May 27, 1860. For his services he was of I. Emperor Franz Josef with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Iron Crown and the Order of Leopold excellent.

Friedrich Graf von Wilczek was married to Franziska de Paula Countess von Chorinsky and von Ledske (1798–1863), daughter of Count Ignaz Karl von Chorinsky and sister of Gustav Ignaz von Chorinsky . Her son Heinrich Wilhelm Joseph von Wilczek (1819–1884) allied himself with Countess Malwina von Stainlein-Saalenstein, daughter of the Bavarian ambassador Johann Gottlieb Eduard von Stainlein (1785–1833) and sister of the composer Ludwig von Stainlein .
