Friedrich Guderian

Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Matthias Guderian (born August 3, 1858 in Groß Klonia , † September 15, 1914 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

origin

His parents were manor owners on Piechcin Heinrich Guderian (* March 5, 1822 - October 14, 1864) and his wife the baroness Johanna Emma Hiller von Gaertringen (* February 11, 1836 - March 10, 1919). His sister Anna Emma Henriette (1861–1951) was married to Lieutenant General Max Heinrich Krieger (1853–1920).

Life

Guderian first graduated from the cadet corps and was transferred on April 15, 1876 as a second lieutenant to the Jäger Battalion No. 10 of the Prussian Army . In the further course of his military career, he advanced as a major on January 27, 1903 to the command of the Hanoverian Jäger Battalion No. 10 . In this capacity, Guderian was promoted to lieutenant colonel on April 10, 1906 and commissioned on December 17, 1908 with the management of the fusilier regiment "Prince Heinrich of Prussia" (Brandenburg) No. 35 in Brandenburg an der Havel . At the same time as his promotion to colonel , he was given command of this association on March 24, 1909 . As major general he was from May 3, 1912 in command of the 35th Infantry Brigade in Flensburg . Under awarding of the character as a Lieutenant General Guderian was on May 4, 1914 in approval of his leave request with the statutory board for disposition made.

Guderian married Clara Kirchhoff (1865–1931), the daughter of the manor owner on Niemczik. The couple had two sons, including the future German Colonel General Heinz Guderian .
