origin

Friedrich Karl Anton was a son of Friedrich Franz Karl von Dalberg (* March 21, 1751; † March 8, 1811), who in 1775: became the governor of the bishop in the Worms monastery and in 1794 became deputy captain of Miltenberg . The mother of Friedrich Karl Anton was his wife, Maria Anna (* May 30, 1756, † September 29, 1829), daughter of Adolf Wilhelm von Greiffenclau zu Vollrads.

Life

Friedrich Karl Anton von Dalberg received a canon position in Speyer in 1797 , which he later renounced, either in 1802 or 1809.

In 1809 or 1810 he inherited the husband of his aunt Maria Anna Luise von Dalberg (* 1739; † 1805), Johann Friedrich Karl Maximilian von Ostein . Their marriage had remained childless and Friedrich Karl Anton had probably been adopted by them beforehand .

In addition to the title of count, the inheritance included the dominions Datschitz and Maleschau in Bohemia as well as other lands. He was now called Dalberg von Ostein . Friedrich Karl Anton von Dalberg thus belonged to the Bohemian gentry . In Austria he was recognized as a count on August 8, 1810 , and enrolled in the baron class in the Kingdom of Bavaria on July 18, 1816 . The Oststein relatives contested the inheritance right in court, which ended in 1810 with a settlement, left him in the possession of the lordship, but with a settlement - to be paid in installments - of 319,000 guilders . He started Czech to learn, trying for his younger brother Karl Anton von Dalberg , for which he during which minority the guardianship had taken to obtain Austrian citizenship.

At the beginning of the Sixth Coalition War in 1813, Friedrich Karl Anton von Dalberg joined the Austrian army and served during almost the entire war until 1815. Among other things, he took part in the Battle of Hanau . When crossing the Vosges in January 1814 he suffered frostbite on his legs, on February 1, 1814 he was wounded in the Battle of Brienne . Even after the peace agreement, he continued to serve as an ulan in the military, in the "Prince of Schwarzenberg" regiment No. 2 .

Friedrich Karl Anton von Dalberg died after only a short illness, unexpectedly and only thirty years old without an heir. He remained the only one in his family who achieved the title of count. Heir and successor in the Austrian mansion was his younger brother, Karl Anton, who inherited the property but not the title of count.
