Friedrich Leopold von Schwerin (* 1699 in Halberstadt ; † May 30, 1750 in Berlin ) was a royal Prussian major general , commander of the Fusilier Regiment No. 46 and governor of Driesen and knight of the Pour le Mérite .

Life

origin

He comes from the Schwerin Dargibell line . His parents were the Prussian brigadier Johann Georg (Hans Jürgen) von Schwerin (* May 3, 1668, † June 5, 1712) and Maria Esther von Dockum . His mother was the daughter of Martin Arnd von Dockum from the Duchy of Geldern and Magdalena Esther von Loë von Oldenpiel . His brother was Lieutenant General Otto Magnus von Schwerin .

Military career

His father took him to the field early on. In 1715 he found himself with Regiment No. 3 (Anhalt-Dessau) during the siege of Stralsund and on August 11, 1716 he was promoted to ensign . In 1726 he was promoted to captain . In 1730 he was promoted to major , in 1740 to lieutenant colonel and on August 5, 1742 to colonel . During the Silesian Wars he fought in the siege of Prague and the battles near Hohenfriedberg , Soor and Kesselsdorf . In 1746 King Friedrich II made him second colonel and commander of the Fusilier Regiment (No. 46) Württemberg . At the same time he exchanged the position of Drosten von Goch for that of the governor von Driesen. In 1747 he was appointed major general. In June 1748 he became co-director of the Berlin Serviswesen and in December 1749, he received a prebend in the collegiate St.Sebastian in Magdeburg .
