Friedrich Otto Schack

Friedrich Otto Schack (born January 4, 1841 in Blödesheim , † April 24, 1922 in Vienna ) was a German Reformed theologian and from 1883 to 1922 superintendent of the Evangelical Church HB in Austria .

Schack studied Protestant theology in Gießen and then attended the seminary in Friedberg . On May 4, 1863 he was in Güll of Friedrich Karl Simon the superintendent of the province, Upper Hesse , to the ministry ordained . Schack completed his vicariate from 1863 to 1865 in Lengfeld . Then he left Hesse and moved to Austria . There he worked as a pastor in Ljubljana for 14 years .

In 1879 Friedrich Otto Schack was elected the first pastor in the Reformed City Church in Vienna. He took up this office in 1880. From the same year he worked as deputy superintendent until he became superintendent himself in 1883 as the successor to Erhard Buschbeck . In 1880 Schack was awarded the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle III. Class excellent. In 1911 he received an honorary doctorate in theology from the University of Vienna .

Friedrich Otto Schack worked both as pastor of the Reformed City Church and as superintendent until his death and shaped evangelical life in Austria. His grave is at the Evangelical Cemetery in Simmering .
