Friedrich Schulze (architect)
Friedrich Schulze , often also Friedrich Schulze-Colbitz or Friedrich Schulze-Kolbitz , (born March 8 or March 18, 1843 in Colbitz , † July 30, 1912 in Steglitz near Berlin ; full name: Johann David Friedrich Otto Schulze ) was a German architect and Prussian building officer .
Life
Friedrich Schulze lived in Berlin since 1862, where he studied at the Berlin Bauakademie from 1862 to 1867 after graduating from high school , interrupted by his participation in the Prussian-Austrian War in 1866. Alongside his studies, he worked as an assistant to the architect Friedrich Adler . Until his master builder examination in 1873 he worked as a foreman in railway construction, interrupted by his participation in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/1871. His son Otto, who also became an architect, was born on April 19, 1874. In 1873 Friedrich Schulze got a job with the ministerial building commission and taught part-time at the Berlin Trade Academy . As a state building officer, Friedrich Adler brought him to his staff in the Prussian Ministry of Public Works in 1877 . In 1879 he worked briefly for the Kassel district government , but returned to Berlin as a building inspector in 1880 as a building inspector for the ministerial building commission. In 1892 he became a member of the board of directors of the Berlin Architects' Association , to which he had belonged since 1870. As a result of a car accident in 1907, he retired on January 1, 1909.
