Friedrich Wilhelm Leopold von Rosenbruch (* 1726 in the Altmark ; † November 4, 1795 in Jarchau ) was a Prussian major general , chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 10 and heir to Jarchau and Rindtorf (Stendal district).

Life

Rosenbruch went into Prussian service on April 16, 1741 and joined the "Platen" dragoon regiment. On October 27, 1743 he was transferred to the "Möllendorf" dragoon regiment . During the Second Silesian War he took part in the battle of Kesselsdorf . On January 29, 1744 he became an ensign and on June 8, 1750 second lieutenant . In the Seven Years' War Rosenbruch fought in the battle of Groß-Jägersdorf and took part in the battles of Spie, Bauerwitz, Reichenbach and the siege of Kolberg.

On September 15, 1757 he became Premier Lieutenant , on August 29, 1761, Staff Captain , on May 24, 1767, Major and Squadron Chief . On May 25, 1776 he became a lieutenant colonel and from August 1, 1776 he was sent to the Reich on advertising . During the War of the Bavarian Succession , Rosenbruch fought near Teschen. On March 29, 1779 he was appointed commander of the Dragoon Regiment. On June 28, 1782 he received the order Pour le Mérite and was also governor of Prussian Eylau , which earned him 500 thalers a year. On July 8, 1782 he was appointed canon in Magdeburg. On March 3, 1784, the West Prussian Cavalry Inspection was formed from the Dragoon Regiments No. 9 and 10 and the Hussar Regiments No. 7 and 10. She was then transferred to Colonel Rosenbruch. On September 22, 1785 he was promoted to major general and the Dragoon Regiment No. 10 as chief. On June 2nd, 1786 he received 2000 thalers as a gift from the king. Due to his age, he gave up the West Prussian Cavalry Inspection on November 20, 1789. This was united with the East Prussian, the whole was then administered by General Kalckreuth . On May 18, 1790 he was informed that he did not have to take part in the Polish campaign, on July 30, 1790 he received his resignation with a pension of 1200 thalers. He died on November 4, 1795 on his Jarchau estate.

His tombstone can still be found today on the church of Jarchau. His initials can also be found on the church's weather vane together with the year 1787, as he had donated in 1787 for the renovation of the church.
