Friedrich Wilhelm Schonert

Friedrich Wilhelm Schonert (born March 9, 1794 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † November 24, 1871 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were the head mill master and city councilor Christoph Schonert and his wife Maria Dorothea, née Buchholz.

Military career

Schonert joined the 1st Guards Regiment on foot of the Prussian Army on February 26, 1813 as a volunteer hunter and took part in the siege of Erfurt and the battle near Neukirch during the wars of liberation . At that time he was transferred to the 11th Infantry Regiment on November 2, 1813 as a Second Lieutenant . On April 10, 1815, he was transferred to the regiment's replacement battalion, but on July 26, 1815, he was transferred to the 2nd Kurmärkische Landwehr Infantry Regiment. On February 19, 1816 he was aggregated to the 18th Infantry Regiment and assigned there on October 5, 1816.

By the end of January 1831 Schonert was promoted to captain and company commander . On May 24, 1841, he was promoted to major and transferred to the 33rd Infantry Regiment as battalion commander. This was followed by a job as commander of the III on March 27, 1847. Battalions in the 1st Landwehr Regiment. Promoted to lieutenant colonel on November 19, 1849 , he became colonel and commander of the 4th Infantry Regiment in Königsberg on September 22, 1851 . On February 5, 1853 Schonert took his leave with pension , on May 29, 1856, he even received a promotion to major general and on October 18, 1861 the Red Eagle III. Class with a bow.

He died in Potsdam on November 24, 1871.

Schonert married on January 23, 1821 in Jauer Johanna Margarete Pretre (1794–1838), a daughter of the city inspector Pretre.
