Friedrich Wilhelm Wolfrath (born September 3, 1757 in Glückstadt , † June 26, 1812 in Rinteln ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm Wolfrath was born as the son of a deacon on September 3, 1757 in Glückstadt and initially trained by his father. He then moved to the University of Kiel in 1775 to study theology, three years later switched to the one in Leipzig and another year later to the University of Halle . He then passed his official theological examination in his hometown. After he had worked as a private tutor , he accepted an adjunct position in Altona in 1781 . At the same time he became a preacher in Ottensen . In 1789 he was promoted to second preacher in Rellingen . Finally, he was appointed in 1795 in Husum to pastor and provost . Four years later he returned to his hometown as a palace and garrison preacher. After July 31, 1801 by the University of Kiel to the doctor of theology doctorate was, he took an offer in 1805 as a theology professor at the University of Rinteln on. At the same time he was also the main pastor, consistorial councilor and superintendent of Schaumburg . The university also awarded him an honorary doctorate in philosophy in 1807 . Wolfrath died there on June 26, 1812 at the age of 54.
