Friedrich von Dönhoff (Colonel)

Count Friedrich von Dönhoff (born December 8, 1708 in Friedrichstein ; † March 29, 1769 there ) was a Prussian chamberlain , colonel and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

Count Friedrich von Dönhoff was a member of the Prussian tribe of the noble von Dönhoff family . He was a son of the Brandenburg - Prussian statesman and lieutenant general Count Otto Magnus von Dönhoff (1665–1717) and Countess Wilhelmine Amalie von Dohna (1686–1757), daughter of Count Alexander zu Dohna-Schlobitten .

Dönhoff had amassed extensive estates in his hand. From his father's inheritance he owned Friedrichstein , and also acquired Hohenhagen, Schönmoor, Pitzenkrug, Reichenhagen, Löwenhagen , Borchersdorf and Barthen (1749).

He took part in both Silesian wars , received the order Pour le Mérite as a lieutenant colonel in the “Truchseß on foot” regiment in 1742 and ended his career as a colonel. Dönhoff was also in the position of a royal Prussian chamberlain.

family

Dönhoff married on June 8, 1740 in Berlin Wilhelmine Sophie von Kameke (1712–1758), daughter of Paul Anton von Kameke . The marriage had five children; among others the royal Prussian war minister Christian von Dönhoff (1742-1803).
