Paul Anton von Kameke (born May 29, 1674 in Strachmin near Köslin , † July 19, 1717 ibid), also called 'the great Kameke', was Prussian Minister of State and Major General .

Life

origin

Paul Anton came from the Strachmin line of the Pomeranian noble family Kameke . He was the son of Paul Anton von Kameke of the same name, heir to Strachmin , Strippow and Warnin , and his wife Dorothea Hedwig von Kameke from the Strippow family.

Career

In 1690 he became a page with the Brandenburg Elector Friedrich III. , the later King Friedrich I of Prussia, whose special trust he was able to win. At the age of 22 he became captain and company commander of the life guards . 1705 appointed him to Frederick I. Grand maître de la wardrobe , the Royal General adjutant and also for Amtshauptmann of Mühlenhof and Muehlenbeck . Together with his cousin Ernst Bogislav von Kameke , he was one of the opponents of the Lord Chamberlain Kolbe-Wartenberg . In 1710 Kameke became chief chamberlain and in 1712 chief court master ( Grand maître de la maison royale ). Also in 1712 he settled in Prötzel the baroque mansion Castle Prötzel build.

When the king died in 1713, Kameke was Colonel of the Life Guard. He then became major general and set up his own regiment. With this he took part in the Pomeranian campaign and the siege of Stralsund during the Great Northern War in 1715 .

Due to illness, Kameke left the army in 1716 and retired to his Strachmin estate, where he died in 1717. Kameke was a Knight of the Black Eagle Order .

family

He was married twice. He married Countess Agnes Juliane von Schlieben on November 13, 1704 (* June 23, 1685; † September 23, 1705). After her death, on March 16, 1707, he married Ilse Anna von Brünnow from the Alt-Schlage family (* January 28, 1675, † August 27, 1749). From this marriage comes the son Friedrich Paul von Kameke (* May 9, 1711, † August 27, 1769). He was married to Countess Marie von Golowkin (* April 8, 1718 - August 8, 1757) and was raised to the Prussian count status by King Friedrich II on July 28, 1740 . He also had the following daughters:
