Friedrich von Schauß, also: Friedrich Ritter von Schauß (-Kempfenhausen) (born January 22, 1832 in Munich , † May 19, 1893 in Munich) was a German lawyer, banker and politician.

Life

Schauß was a son of the lawyer and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly Anton Schauß (von Schauß from 1856), a close friend of King Maximilian II of Bavaria. He was also related to the Munich industrialist family Maffei .

He attended the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich until 1849 , studied law in Munich , Erlangen and Heidelberg from 1850 to 1853 and obtained his doctorate in law. jur. In Munich he was a member of the Corps Franconia . In 1856 he passed the major state examination, in 1856 he became an appeals court advisor in Freising . In 1859 he became a public prosecutor's substitute first in Munich, then in Kronach . In 1863 he settled in Munich as a lawyer , in 1871 he became director of the Süddeutsche Bodenkreditbank . Schauß was one of the founders of Munich Reinsurance .

He became a member of the Bavarian House of Representatives in 1869 for the German Progressive Party in Bavaria, and from 1884 for the National Liberal Party , of which he was one of the founders in Munich. From 1871 to 1881 he represented the constituency of Upper Franconia 1 (Hof) in the German Reichstag . In 1879, as a proponent of Bismarck's protective tariff policy, he temporarily resigned from the National Liberal Party and, with Julius Hölder, founded the non-attached group Schauß / Hölder, of which he was chairman in 1880/81. He later returned to the National Liberals and was a member of their board of directors until his death.

From 1889 to 1893, Schauß was the first chairman of the Central Committee of the Association of Old Corps Students .
