Friedrich Wilhelm August Christian zu Solms-Laubach (born June 23, 1833 in Laubach ; † September 1, 1900 there ) was a Hessian gentleman and member of the Reichstag .

Life

Friedrich was the son of the former member of the Reichstag, Count Otto zu Solms-Laubach (1799–1872) and his wife Luitgarde, nee Princess zu Wied (1813–1870). He attended high school in Marburg and the universities in Bonn and Göttingen . From 1854 to 1859 he was an officer in the Royal Prussian 1st Guard Regiment on foot . In the war of 1870/1871 he was a delegate for the Johanniter Reserve Hospital Nieder-Weisel near Butzbach. Since January 1871 company commander in Garrison Battalion No. 74 in Wesel . He retired from military service as a major à la suite.

Since March 1868, he was in his father's place as head of the family member of the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in Darmstadt . In 1872 he succeeded his father in the Laubach class. From 1889 to 1900 he was second president of the first chamber. Since February 1870 he was a representative of the 3rd Upper Hesse constituency in the North German Reichstag . From 1871 to 1874 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the German Reich Party for the constituency of Hesse 3 ( Alsfeld - Lauterbach - Schotten ).

Solms-Laubach was President of the Agricultural Association for the Province of Upper Hesse, President of the Association of German Landlords and was honored in 1895 with a gold medal for science, art, industry and agriculture.

He was married to Countess Marianne zu Solms-Laubach, born in Stolberg-Wernigerode (born September 6, 1835, † August 13, 1910). Their son Wilhelm zu Solms-Laubach (1861–1936) became district administrator in Schlüchtern, the younger son Karl zu Solms-Laubach (1870–1945) became district administrator in Hofgeismar. The eldest son Otto (1860-1904) succeeded him in the class rule.
