The doctor of law started his military service a few days after the beginning of the First World War in August 1914. After his appointment as police chief in Gelsenkirchen was not issued until June 4, 1921, he received his definitive appointment as district administrator of the Schwelm district on August 20, 1921, which he held until December 31 of the same year.
