Fritz Anton Franz Schmidt (born November 2, 1900 in Freilassing , Upper Bavaria , † June 11, 1982 in Murnau am Staffelsee , Upper Bavaria) was a German engineer , heat technician and university professor .
Life
Fritz Schmidt, the son of Fritz Schmidt senior, turned to the filed matriculation examination at the secondary school Salzburg studying engineering at the TH Munich to 1923 he graduated from the diploma examination , 1927, his promotion to Dr.-Ing.
After Fritz Schmidt began his professional career as a designer in 1924 , the following year he took up an assistant position at the Institute for Thermodynamics at the Technical University of Munich. In 1929 he was given the management of the power plant at A. Borsig GmbH in Berlin , which he held until 1933 . In 1930 he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer in thermodynamics at the TH Berlin , and in 1933 he was appointed head of the Institute for Engines, Working Processes and Thermodynamics at the German Aviation Research Institute in Berlin-Adlershof . Fritz Schmidt, who was appointed full professor in the Reich Service in 1940 , held this position until 1945.
In 1947 Schmidt followed the call to the professorship for heat engineering and combustion engines at the TH Aachen , where he also took over the management of the institute of the same name. Fritz Schmidt, who was a member of the working group for research of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, filled these positions until his retirement in 1968. The research work of Schmidt, who was accepted as a corresponding member of the German Academy for Aviation Research and as a full member of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Akademie der Wissenschaften , concerned the areas of combustion and self-ignition processes, internal combustion engines and gas turbines .
