Fritz Schmidt (born March 4, 1899 in Warburg ; † July 2, 1942 near Chersonesos ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ).

Life

After attending the community school in ( Kassel -) Harleshausen (1905–1913), Schmidt completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith from Easter 1913 to September 1914 , which he broke off after the outbreak of the First World War . From September 11, 1914 he took part in the First World War as a volunteer in the 1st Upper Alsatian Infantry Regiment No. 167 . After his discharge from the army on March 12, 1919, he finished his apprenticeship and then worked as a car mechanic and driver until January. In 1928 Schmidt joined the NSDAP ( membership number 100.985) and its combat formation, the Sturmabteilung (SA). In 1930 he was promoted to SA Sturmführer and in 1932 appointed sports teacher and head of a pre-school for the SA.

In July 1932 , Schmidt moved into the Reichstag as a member of the NSDAP , in which he represented constituency 19 (Hessen-Nassau), and of which he subsequently belonged without interruption until his death in 1942. During his time as a member of parliament, Schmidt voted, among other things, for the Enabling Act introduced into parliament by the Hitler government in March 1933 , which formed the legal basis for the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship. Heinrich Reinhardt continued Schmidt's mandate after his death until 1945 .

In July 1933 Schmidt was appointed personal adjutant to the group leader and chief president of the Hesse-Hassau province, Prince Philip of Hesse . From November 7th of the same year he was appointed leader of the SA Standard 83. One and a half years later, on May 5, 1935, he was entrusted with the leadership of the SA Brigade 46 Fulda, and on November 15, 1936, he was appointed Leader of the SA Brigade 47 Kassel. On January 30, 1938, Schmidt was awarded the NSDAP's Golden Decoration .

Schmidt died in 1942, during the Second World War, as a soldier in Chersonesos in the Crimea .
