Fritz Zastrau

Karl Albert Fritz Zastrau (also Karl Albert Friedrich Zastrau ; born September 12, 1837 in Freystadt , Province of Silesia ; † February 2, 1899 in Friedenau , Teltow district ) was a German architect and Prussian construction officer . He mainly worked in Berlin, where he designed university and government buildings and was entrusted with their construction management .

Life

From 1851 Fritz Zastrau attended the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau, where he passed the Abitur in 1857. This was followed by a year as a student at Baurat Blanckenhorn in Brieg . From 1858 to 1860 Zastrau studied at the Berlin Bauakademie , where he took the construction manager examination. Then he practically worked on university buildings in Berlin. In 1870 Zastrau undertook study trips a. a. in Hungary, Italy and southern Germany, and passed the master builder examination in the same year .

At the beginning of his career, Fritz Zastrau worked in construction management at university buildings in Berlin, and he also worked as an assistant teacher at the Berlin Building Academy. In 1875 he was appointed master builder at the Ministerial Building Commission, and then in 1879 as building inspector. Zastrau went to Königsberg in 1884 as a government and building officer . In 1890 he was appointed Lecturer Council in the Ministry of Public Works . In 1891 Zastrau became a member of the Prussian Academy of Building .
