Fuchsstadt is a district of the market Reichenberg and a district in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .

The place is about ten kilometers south of Würzburg at an altitude of 279 m. ü. NN and four kilometers west of the Main Triangle . The Franconian Marienweg leads through Fuchsstadt .

history

The place is surrounded all around by settlements from the Hallstatt and Latène periods , whose underground remains are protected as ground monuments. The oldest surviving historical record is a sandstone pillar ( atonement cross ) on the village street, which dates from 1588. Around 1800 the place consisted of about 50 courtyards.

The town is dominated by the striking neo-Romanesque Protestant parish church from the 19th century, which replaced a previous medieval building. About half a dozen other historical buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries are located on site and can be viewed in the Fuchsstadt monument list .

In 1978 the formerly independent community was completely incorporated into Reichenberg. The municipality had an area of 800 hectares in 1961 and had no other parts of the municipality.

traffic

The district road WÜ 13 connects the place with Albertshausen and Winterhausen . A bus stop located in the center of the village is served every hour by line 421 of the Mainfranken transport association .
