Winterhausen is a market in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg and a member of the Eibelstadt administrative community .

Geographical location
Winterhausen is located in the Lower Franconia administrative district , in the Main Franconian region , in the Würzburg district. Sommerhausen is located directly opposite Winterhausen, on the east bank of the Main . The strange names of the two villages have their origins in the church patrons. The patron saint of summer houses, Bartholomäus, has his feast day in summer (August 24th), and the patron saint of winter houses, Nicholas, in winter (December 6th). The Franconian Marienweg leads through Winterhausen .

history
Until the church is planted
The Winterhausen market, formerly an office of the Limpurgian rule Speckfeld (or their heir daughters of rights), was in the Franconian Empire from 1500 . When it was mediatized, it fell to Bavaria and was left to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg during border adjustments in 1810 , with which it reverted to Bavaria in 1814. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818.
Administrative affiliation
Until the regional reform in 1972, Winterhausen belonged to the district of Ochsenfurt , and since then to the district of Würzburg .
Winterhausen has been a member of the Eibelstadt administrative association since 1978.

The city of Cannobio and the market town of Winterhausen entered into a partnership on April 23, 2016 to consolidate and deepen existing friendly contacts .

Winterhausen is on State Road 2418 between Würzburg and Ochsenfurt . A bridge leads across the Main to Sommerhausen, where there is a connection to Bundesstraße 13 .
Winterhausen is connected to the rail network through a train station on the Treuchtlingen – Würzburg railway line , which is served hourly by the regional train.
