Location of the community of Tauberrettersheim in the district of Würzburg | ||
Tauberrettersheim is a municipality in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg and a member of the Röttingen administrative community .
geography
The parish village of Tauberrettersheim is the only place in the community and at the same time the last Bavarian place on the Tauber , after Röttingen in the north-east, also in Bavaria, and before Schäftersheim in Baden-Württemberg in the west, both of which are about three kilometers away as the crow flies. It lies in its shell limestone valley, 150 meters deep, on the left bank of the river. The center of the village is west of a ditch that rarely carries water, the so-called fountain blade. For many years the place has outgrown the fountain blade. A bridge leads over to Talstraße St 2269 along the right bank of the Tauber with the train station on the former Gaubahn . Above this, wine grows on the land-adjusted, south-facing slopes of the river valley.
history
The first documentary mention was made in 1103. As part of the Hochstift Würzburg , Tauberrettersheim was secularized in 1803 in favor of Bavaria, then left in the Peace of Pressburg (1805) to Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg , with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814.
From 1909 Tauberrettersheim was connected to the rail network by a branch line of the Württemberg railway, later the Deutsche Reichsbahn and then the Deutsche Bundesbahn. This branch line also provided a connection to the Gaubahn from Röttingen to Ochsenfurt , which branched off at Bieberehren and was identical to the Württemberg branch line until Röttingen. Passenger traffic ceased in 1967 and freight traffic in the 1980s. Then the tracks were dismantled and the route of the Taubertal Cycle Path was laid on the embankment in this area. Today only the former embankment reminds of the time when the railroad was connected.
