Surname
etymology
The name Güntersleben consists of the personal name Gunder and the Old High German word leiba , which means legacy. The explanation is “Gunder's legacy”.

history
Until the church is planted
The place was first mentioned in 1113. In 1510 Güntersleben was ravaged by a severe fire and in 1611 the plague claimed 141 victims in the village. The Benedictine monastery of St. Stephan Würzburg had the right to tithe in Güntersleben until 1802 . Municipal council
In the local elections on March 15, 2020, 2,333 of the 3,555 residents entitled to vote exercised their right to vote, bringing the turnout to 65.63%.

The first mayor has been Klara Schömig (UBG) since October 8, 2017, who prevailed against Michael Freudenberger (CSU) in the election on July 9, 2017 with 54.3% of the votes. Her predecessor was Ernst Joßberger (UBG), who was first elected in a runoff on October 2, 2005. In the mayoral election on July 10, 2011, he was re-elected mayor of Güntersleben. Economy including agriculture and forestry
According to official statistics, there were four employees at the place of work in the field of agriculture and forestry, 78 in the manufacturing sector and 42 in trade and transport. In other economic sectors 108 people were employed at the place of work subject to social insurance contributions. - Ignatius Gropp primary school with 145 students and 13 teachers. This elementary school has existed since 1951. In 1991 it was named after a former pastor of the village and was given its current name. Since 2005 there has been no partial secondary school due to a lack of students.
Others
in the spring of 2007, the establishment of a local recreation area began . The project began with the expansion of a cycle path that leads through the village. This connects the community Güntersleben with Unterdürrbach , continues to Würzburg and has a connection to the Main Cycle Path . The Dürrbachpark , a park with a beach volleyball field, beer garden, a completely renovated mini golf course, a climbing wall and a playground was inaugurated at the beginning of August 2007.
