The fundus pillar is a 3079  m above sea level. A. Berg in the north-south running Geigenkamm , a mountain range in the northern Ötztal Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol . Due to its easy accessibility from several shelters , it is a popular, easy-to-climb panoramic mountain.

Location and surroundings

The Fundusfeiler is located in the northern violin ridge and is the first three-thousand-meter peak of the ridge when viewed from the north. The neighboring mountain in the course of the less pronounced north ridge is the 2812 meter high Leierskogel and immediately in the southwest, separated by the Feilerscharte (2926 m), are the three Lehner Grieskögel with 3032, 3030 and 3038 meters. The east flank of the Fundus pillar falls down into the Fundus Valley , the west side into the Pitztal . Next important place in Pitztal is less than 5 km in a straight line to the west lies the village Zaunhof and in the Oetztal the good 5 km to the northeast away Umhausen .

Tourist development

Due to its easy accessibility from the valleys and its easy ascent, there are no traditional documents for a documented first ascent of the Fundus pillar. The mountain is easily accessible by an extensive network of hiking trails and is often climbed in both summer and winter. The normal route , the slightest ascent, takes place over the south side of the mountain. The Frischmannhütte , located at 2192 meters above sea level at the end of the Fundus Valley , is a suitable base , from which the summit can be reached in around two hours of walking via the Feilerscharte and the following easy UIAA grade I climbing . From the Erlanger Hut (2541 m) to the north on the Wildgrat , an exposed high-altitude trail leads over the Feilerscharte to the summit in four hours. You also have to calculate four hours for the ascent from the Ludwigsburg hut (1935 m) to the west , above Zaunhof, over the Lehnerjoch (2510 m).
