Furcraea andina is a species of the genus Furcraea in the subfamily of the agave family (Agavoideae). The specific epithet andina refers to the occurrence of the species in the Andes .
description
The rosettes of Furcraea andina are stemless. The large leaves are elongated lanceolate. On the leaf margins there are protruding and curved marginal teeth, which are usually up to 6 millimeters apart and are almost as long.
The inflorescence has a short stem. He wears conical-egg-shaped bulbils . The fruits are like cubes.
Systematics and distribution
Furcraea andina is common in the Peruvian regions of Ancash , Cusco , Huánuco , Junín , La Libertad and Lima at altitudes of 1500 to 3500 meters. It is also found in Ecuador and western Bolivia.
The first description by William Trelease was published in 1915.
Synonyms are Furcraea deledewantii C.Rivière (1902), Furcraea delewantii C.Rivière (1902, nom. Inval. ICBN -Article 61.1) and Furcraea altissima Hort. ex Trel. (1915, nom. Illeg. ICBN -Article 53.1)
Furcraea andina is classified in the genus in the section Furcraea . The species is not well known.
