Furgler

The Furgler is a 3004  m above sea level. A. high mountain of the Samnaun group in the Austrian state of Tyrol . The tourist town of Serfaus , which is in the immediate vicinity, is often chosen as the starting point for the frequently performed ascent of the mountain.

Ascents

The Serfaus – Fiss – Ladis ski area is close to the mountain, which makes the ascent much easier. The starting point is the middle or mountain station of the Komperdell cable car to the Lazidkopf .

The ascent can be made from the cable car on two marked mountain paths:

  • The northern route leads from the middle station ( 1980  m ) along the long-distance hiking trail 702 past the Furglersee ( 2458  m ), to the west through the Furglertal, over the Furglerjoch ( 2748  m ) and the exposed north ridge with easy climbing up to the summit cross.
  • The southern route leads from the Lassida mountain station ( 2351  m ) over the Böderköpfe to Scheid ( 2429  m ), on to the Tieftalsee ( 2783  m ) and around it and from the southwest to the summit.

Both routes can be combined to one excess (duration approx. 5.5 hours). If you ascend via the northern route, it is slightly easier to exceed it than when ascending via the southern route. Special climbing equipment is not required, but sturdy shoes, a head for heights and surefootedness are required.

  • Another ascent takes place from the Ascher hut over the Furglerjoch up to the summit (approx. 4 hours).

In winter, the Furgler is a popular ski touring mountain .

summit

On the summit of the Furgler is the approximately nine meter high wooden summit cross , which was built in 1957 and rebuilt in 1988 and is secured with eight ropes. Two memorial plaques commemorate these events: “The Holy Cross is our flag in the struggle and every need that awakens us, which urges us to be faithful to death” (erected by the boys and men from Serfaus, 1957) and “Newly erected 1988 - Thanks to all helpers and donors and God's blessing ”.

Comrades from Serfaus Mountain Rescue and his family remember Siegmund Oberacher (* November 16, 1944, † March 23, 1997) on another plaque: “ When you are exhausted, seek new strength in the heights of the mountains, where you God and be closest to yourself. The higher you climb, the clearer the water, the cleaner the snow, the brighter the sky. Every day is like a small year and every hour of solitude in the mountains is eternity. "

In good weather conditions, the summit offers a wonderful all-round view of countless Alpine peaks.
