Gérard Darmon (born February 29, 1948 in Paris ) is a French - Moroccan actor and singer .

Life

Gérard Darmon comes from a family of Algerian immigrants. He was discovered for the cinema by Roger Hanin . He got his first film role in the film The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob by Gérard Oury , in which he plays one of Colonel Farès' followers. He became known to a wider public in 1980 through his appearance in Diva by Jean-Jacques Seeleix , followed by The Superboss , alongside Roger Hanin. He played his first leading role in 1983 in The Princes , a film by director Tony Gatlif . In the following years he played in various films directed by Claude LelouchIn 2002 he played the role of Pyradonis in Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra by Alain Chabat . In 2003 he released his first album as a singer, followed by further releases in 2006 and 2008.
