Göran Jakob Rosenberg (born October 11, 1948 in Södertälje ) is a Swedish journalist and author .

Life

Göran Rosenberg's parents David and Hala Rosenberg are Jewish Holocaust survivors who come from the Polish city of Łódź and who emigrated to Sweden after their liberation. Rosenberg studied mathematics, philosophy and political science at Stockholm University and then attended the Journalism College from 1968 to 1970.

Rosenberg worked as a journalist, reporter and documentary filmmaker for Sveriges Radio and Sveriges Television , in 1985 he went to Washington, DC as a reporter for TV2 for four years. From 1990 to 1999 he published his own magazine, Moderna Tider . In 1991 his first book was published, Friare kan ingen vara: den amerikanska idén från revolution till Reagan . Between 1991 and 2011 he was a columnist for the Dagens Nyheter newspaper . In 2004 and 2008 he produced two travel reports about the USA for the television channel TV4 .

Rosenberg has received various journalism awards and grants. For the documentary Den svarta staden med det vita huset he received the Nymphe d'Or Award in 1990 at the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo and the Czech Crystal for Goethe och Ghetto in 1996 at the “Golden Prague International Television Festival” . The University of Gothenburg awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2000. In 2012 he received the August Prize for the biography Ett kort uppehåll på vägen från Auschwitz (“A short stay on the way from Auschwitz”) . In the story he follows the life of his father, who was a prisoner in the Litzmannstadt ghetto and in the Auschwitz concentration camp , when he was a slave laborer for the truck manufacturer Büssing in Braunschweig and was liberated from the Wöbbelin concentration camp . The father committed under the burden of survivor's syndrome and the harassment of the West German restitution system 1960 suicide .

Rosenberg was married to the theater pedagogue Annika Isaksson, the actress Vanna Rosenberg (* 1973) is his daughter.
