Life
Hennigs was the son of Captain Albert Rudolf Fredrik von Hennigs who died early and his wife Emilie Augusta Lovisa (née Pihlgren). In 1890 he began to work in an architecture office in Stockholm before he enrolled in the painting school of the artists' association in 1891. Gösta von Hennigs , as he called himself by his stage name , came from the Swedish branch of a Pomeranian aristocratic family. He was a student of the Swedish painter Anders Zorn , who influenced him significantly, as well as Richard Bergh and Per Hasselberg . In his early works he addressed street scenes. In 1906 he exhibited his work in Uppsala . From then on, his motifs were taken from the circus ring, racetracks or cabaret. When implementing the movement in the picture, he oriented himself towards Edgar Degas as a role model. His pictures found in the collections of the major museums in Scandinavia and in the collections of the important Swedish private collectors Prince Eugen Napoleon of Sweden , Ernest Thiel and Klas Fåhraeus .
He represented Sweden at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in the Olympic Art Competition .
