meaning

The Güferhorn is a popular tour destination in winter and summer. The starting point is usually the Läntahütte . However, the climbs in summer have not become easier due to the changes in the glacier.

Surname

Güfer is the plural of Gufer (Halde of coarse blocks in Walser German , which is spoken in the Valsertal north of the Güferhorn).

glacier

The northern flank of the Güferhorn is formed by the extensive Güfer Glacier with a length of approx. 2 kilometers.

National park

The Güferhorn is to become part of the planned Parc Adula . The summit would be on the edge of the park's core zone.

The first documented ascent took place in 1806 by the Disentis "mountain climber" Placidus a Spescha over the Canaltal and the Güfer glacier. This route is not used today because of the retreat of the glaciers.
