Günter Sachse
Günter Sachse (born August 23, 1916 in Hanover ; † December 1, 2008 ) was a German publisher and writer .
Life
Günter Sachse attended a humanistic grammar school in Hanover . After he had passed the school leaving examination , he was drafted into the labor service and then into the armed forces. At the World War II axis participated as an officer in part. After his return from captivity in 1947, he carried out various activities, including being a commercial clerk and a publisher's representative . Since the 1950s he has been the editor-in-chief of a youth book publisher in Göttingen .
In addition to his editing activities, Günter Sachse wrote books for young people , mainly on topics from the early days of the American West . In addition, a large number of retellings of ancient and Germanic heroic sagas , fairy tales - adaptations and translations from English .
Günter Sachse was a member of the Friedrich Bödecker Circle and the Humboldt Society . In 1986 he received the Friedrich Gerstäcker Prize for his novel The Raft of Poor People .
