Günther Jahn (painter)
Günther Jahn (born October 16, 1933 in Sondershausen ; † February 13, 2011 in Jena ) was a German painter and graphic artist .
Life
Jahn was born the son of a druggist. After attending school in Sondershausen, he began an apprenticeship as a bricklayer in 1950. In 1952 he began studying architecture at the Görlitz Building School , but had to drop out early for family reasons. In 1953 he started a three-year apprenticeship as a druggist in Erfurt and then worked full-time for six years in his father's drugstore. In the following years he was intensively involved in painting in his free time, inspired by Alexander von Szpinger , a landscape painter from Weimar . In 1963 he applied to the University of Fine and Applied Arts Berlin-Weißensee , which surprisingly classified him as trained and recommended him to the Association of Visual Artists .
From 1964 Jahn became a full member of the Association of Visual Artists with state recognition as a graphic artist and painter. Between 1967 and 1980 he worked as an art teacher in Ebeleben and at the Sondershausen and Greußen high schools . He then worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist. In 2008 the city council presented him with the honorary gift of the city of Sondershausen.
Günther Jahn married Gudrun Six (* 1933) in 1956, with whom he had seven children. He had another illegitimate son with the singing teacher Anette Hirschfeld in Wernigerode .
