The Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise , or GP d'Ouverture for short , is a French road bike race .
The GP d'Ouverture is a one-day race that has been part of the UCI Europe Tour since 2005 and is classified in category 1.1. It was held for the first time in 1980 under the name La Marseillaise and has been held annually at the end of January or beginning of February since then. In 1992 the race was renamed the Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise. It traditionally opens the European cycling season. The Etoile de Bessèges stage race , which is also based in and around Marseille, follows the Grand Prix .
