GSG 9 - Your commitment is your life (also: GSG 9 - Die Elite-Einheit ) is a German action series broadcast from 2007-2008 by the broadcaster Sat.1 , which is freely inspired by the real German anti-terrorist unit GSG 9 . In the series, this special unit is always called when the German police see no more options or when it comes to protecting politicians. Due to low ratings, the series was discontinued after a year.

The Federal Task Force - BEK for short - is the command unit of the Federal Police that appeared somewhat strangely in the 1st season of the TV series "GSG 9 - Your Mission is Your Life" and thus the fictitious Federal Police counterpart to the Special Forces Command of the Federal Armed Forces. In the series, the GSG 9 is treated as a separate unit, although it appears to be a subdivision of the BEK. Indications for this give, among other things, that the commander in the series the badge of the GSG 9 and the Federal Police badge; however, that it does not have the words "Polizei" as in reality, but the abbreviation "BEK". Other officers in the series who do not belong to GSG 9 also wear the BEK badge, but not the GSG 9 badge.

Little is known about the precise and individual tasks of the BEK. But it is also used abroad and against terrorism and organized crime. The number of employees is a few thousand officials.

The headquarters , known as the situation center , has its own fleet of vehicles and its own helicopter fleet. The situation center is located in Berlin-Weißensee. The old congress center on Weißenseer Weg was rebuilt for the shooting.

Characters

  • Gebhard "Geb" Schurlau is 33 years old and the leader of the SET-50, which is accepted by everyone. He is also known as a close combat specialist. He has been married for twelve years and has two children with his wife Maja, Lissy and Sofia. The couple often quarrel because Geb is often on duty and cannot look after the children as a result. This usually makes Maja feel overwhelmed. She was having an affair with Demir's brother. At the end of the first season, their relationship is about to end, because Geb opts for GSG 9 and not for her. Since then he has lived with Demir. As a SET leader, Geb has the nickname "5-1".
  • Freddy Sedlack, also known as "Tiger", is the new member of the team. He joins the troops after Konny's disappearance and replaces him as Geb's deputy, so he has the nickname "5-2".
  • Demir Aslan is 29 years old and of Turkish descent. He is the close combat expert of the SET-50. He grew up in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Demir is good friends with Geb. His brother was a lawyer but died in the first season. He also has a sister who later becomes his opponent. Demir's nickname is "5-3".
  • Frank Wernitz is 26 years old and a precision shooter . Despite his age, he still lives with his parents. Frank is engaged to his childhood sweetheart Sabine. He is the last member of the SET and has the nickname "5-4".
  • Thomas Josefus Anhoff is the head of all GSG 9 units. In his control center, he and Helmholtz report to the teams with the nickname “Atlas 100”.
  • Petra Helmholtz is Anhoff's colleague and analyst. Together with him, she leads and monitors the operations of the GSG 9 and, like him, is in constant contact with the SETs via radio. In the second season of the series it is revealed that she had an affair with Konstantin von Brendorp, which is why there were more tensions between her and Anhoff, who then had her monitored.

Former characters

  • Caspar Reindl is 28 years old. He was responsible for defusing the bombs. Before the wall came down, he lived in Moscow. His father has not spoken to him since he joined GSG 9. The reason for his exit is not known.
  • Konstantin "Konny" von Brendorp is 29 years old, comes from the Prussian nobility and has therefore been nicknamed "Frau Gräfin" von Demir. He has been married to an Argentine diplomat's daughter for a year. In the second episode of the second season he disappears without a trace. It is rumored that he has changed sides. It later emerges that Konny has gone into the "company" as an undercover agent for the BKA . The felon Brahms found out about it, however, because he not only bought the BKA officer Julia Petzold, but also the chief detective of the Soko "company", Neukirch. As the former deputy SET leader, Konny was called "5-2". In a staged bank robbery in the penultimate episode, he wanted to save himself from the "company", but knew secretly that he had no chance. He records a cell phone video, explains his situation and apologizes to his comrades. Then he says goodbye with the words "5-2 end". Geb and his men defuse the situation, but Konny is shot from behind by Brahms' henchman, a sniper, and dies in Helmholtz's arms.
